About Lustre de hall d'entrée

A foyer chandelier brings the entrance together, whether it opens into a compact hallway or a double-height space. Start with the room and the full hanging dimensions, then choose a finish that works with nearby hardware. An entryway does not need a large chandelier to feel welcoming.

Find the right fit for your foyer

1. Start with your entrance

Ceiling height and the shape of your entrance help narrow the choices. Use these as starting points, then check the exact dimensions of the light you like.

What to check for your entrance
Your spaceCheck firstCompare
Lower ceilingShortest ceiling-to-bottom height and the door openingShallow fixtures, flush or semi-flush mounts
Small or narrow entryFixture width and space around itCompact shapes with an open, lighter appearance
Tall or two-story foyerOverall drop, fixture width and the upstairs viewVertical or tiered designs that fit the actual space

2. Compare width, then check the full drop

For a roughly rectangular foyer, this familiar sizing rule gives you a starting width to compare:

Starting diameter (inches) ≈ room length (feet) + room width (feet)

Example: 10 ft + 12 ft → about 22 in (56 cm) wide.

This is a visual guide, not a fit guarantee. A long, narrow hall or a two-story foyer needs a separate check of width and height. Try a paper outline on the floor to judge the footprint before ordering.

A = ceiling height · B = full drop · C = clear space below

Measure to the lowest part of the light. A common planning guideline is at least 7 ft (213 cm) above a walking area; your door opening and local installation requirements may need more.

Check the shortest full height from the ceiling to the bottom of the light, including the ceiling cover, hanging parts and light body. A cord that can be shortened does not make a tall light body shorter.

A two-story foyer

Look at the light from the entrance and the upstairs landing. Check for exposed bulbs at eye level, enough space around the fixture, and access for cleaning. Window alignment is a design choice, not a universal mounting rule.

3. Check these details before you order

  • Lighting option: choose the exact color-temperature and dimming option. Three-color light does not automatically mean dimmable.
  • Light source: replaceable bulbs can be changed individually. With integrated LED, ask about driver or LED service access—especially in a tall foyer.
  • Installation: confirm the full hanging range, fixture weight, ceiling support and any sloped-ceiling requirements with your installer.
  • Finish: compare with the door handles and stair rail. A shared finish or shape can connect nearby rooms without an exact match.

Foyer chandelier questions

Can a small entryway have a chandelier?

Yes, if the fixture fits the space. Compare the shortest complete hanging height and the width, and make sure the door can open freely. A flush or semi-flush design may be worth considering when height is limited.

How is a foyer chandelier different from a staircase chandelier?

The spaces can share suitable fixtures. A foyer light is chosen around the entrance and its views; a staircase light must also fit the stairwell, landings and changing walking levels. A long stairwell light is not automatically suitable for a low entrance.

Should a two-story foyer chandelier line up with the window?

It can, but first check the view from both floors, circulation and the fixture’s full hanging range. Window height alone should not decide placement.

Does a dimmable chandelier work with any wall dimmer?

No. The selected fixture, bulb or driver and control must be compatible. Remote-controlled dimming may differ from wall-dimmer operation. Check the specific option before buying.

Is integrated LED better for a high foyer?

It depends on service access as well as the look you prefer. Compare how the light can be maintained, what parts can be replaced and the applicable warranty. Integrated LED still needs an eventual service plan.

How should I plan for cleaning?

Check the care instructions and how the installed fixture will be reached. Intricate crystals or multiple shades may take more time to clean. Arrange suitable access with an installer for high or heavy fixtures.

Should the foyer light match the dining room light?

They can coordinate without being identical. Repeating a finish or shape often works well when both lights are visible together. Choose the size of each light for its own space.
