About Lustre semi-encastré

A semi-flush chandelier leaves space above its decorative body. That gap is only part of the measurement: the full drop runs from the ceiling to the fixture’s lowest point.

For a hallway or entryway, begin with the walking route and door swing. For a bedroom, also consider the view from the bed and the light-source design. Check dimensions for the exact option you plan to buy.

Planning Space for a Semi-Flush Chandelier

Measure the whole fixture

Use the complete installed drop, including the connection above the body and any decoration below it. A listed body height may not include these parts. Confirm what a measurement includes before using it.

Semi-flush mount: include the gap and fixture body in the total drop.

Concept only. Actual dimensions vary by fixture. Diagrams are not to scale.

Find the lowest point

Measure the ceiling height at the planned fixture location.

Height above floor = ceiling height − total installed drop Use the same units for both measurements. Total installed drop runs from the ceiling to the fixture’s lowest point. If only body height is listed, confirm the complete drop first. This is space planning, not an installation clearance requirement.

Check your room

If a candidate hangs lower than you want, compare its actual dimensions with a flush-mount option. Mounting names alone do not establish which individual fixture fits better.

Semi-Flush Mount Chandelier FAQs

How is a semi-flush-mount chandelier different from a flush mount?

A semi-flush mount leaves a gap between the ceiling and the main fixture body. A flush mount sits closer to the ceiling. Compare the complete dimensions of each candidate because the depth of the decorative body also affects its overall drop.

Does the gap above the fixture tell me how far it hangs down?

No. The gap is only one part of the drop. Measure from the ceiling to the lowest point of the complete installed fixture, including any decoration below the main body. Confirm whether the product’s stated height is body height or complete installed height.

Can a semi-flush chandelier work in a small hallway or entryway?

It depends on the selected fixture and available space. Compare its full drop and width with the walking route, ceiling height and door-opening path. Confirm the model’s installation requirements before ordering.

Will a semi-flush light be brighter than a flush mount?

The mounting style alone does not establish brightness. Compare listed light output where available and check the light source, shade or diffuser, and controls for each model. A ceiling gap is not a lumen rating.

Can the light source be replaced or dimmed?

Both depend on the model and option. Check bulb requirements for bulb-based designs, or replacement-part information for integrated LEDs. Confirm the supported control method; remote dimming does not establish compatibility with a wall dimmer.
